COURSE DESCRIPTION: Designed to broaden the student's knowledge and skills in the health assessment and physical examination across the lifespan.

Prerequisites: NUR 3065C or concurrent with NUR 3065C.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Identify psychosocial, cultural and developmental factors affecting the health assessment process.
2. Utilize appropriate communication and interviewing techniques to facilitate the health assessment.
3. Gather health history and current health status in a thorough and systematic manner.
4. Document the health history and current health status, and the physical exam according to accepted standards.
5. Utilize inspection, palpation, percussion and ausculation effectively.
6. Recognize normal parameters of the health assessment.
7. Demonstrate competency in performing the physical examination.
8. Demonstrate critical thinking in the analysis of physical findings.
