Objectives:
Describe the steps of the Musculoskeletal assessment.
Recognize the normal parameters and common variations of the Musculoskeletal assessment.
Systematically perform the Musculoskeletal assessment.
Document the Musculoskeletal assessment in an acceptable format.

Readings, Assignments, and Lab

  • Bring: Textbook, workbook, stethescope.
  • Reading: Seidel et al. Chapter 20.
  • Workbook: Chapter 20 - concepts application.
  • Define: Ch. 19, p. 148 - abduction, adduction, crepitus, eversion, inversion, kyphosis, lordosis, pronation, supination.
  • Interactive Challenge: Musculoskeletal
  • Practice: Assessment of the musculoskeletal system.
  • Crossover to Clinical Practice: Assess range of motion and musculoskeletal system on lab partner &/or assigned client. Perform and document assessments of all other systems.
  • Document: Findings on flow sheet and in a narrative note
