Discussion Questions:  Discussion questions due at end of this class session (Saturday at 5 pm.)

2.      Similarly, what does Orr mean when referring to the "crisis as a consequence of economic growth."

3.      Is Orr, after all, really anti-market and anti-capitalist?   Explain.

4.      So what's wrong with "dominating nature" anyway?

5.      What was that "wrong turn" that Orr claims we as a species made?

6.      How does Orr claim that sustainability and technology contradict one another?

7.      So what conclusions does Orr ultimately draw in the first 21 pages of his book?

8.      How does Orr define ecological literacy?  How have others define it?

9.      Why has ecological literacy been such a difficult concept for Western culture to grasp?

10.    What are the six foundations of ecological literacy?

11.      What does Leopold mean when referring to a "land ethic?"

Post your responses to the questions on the Lesson Board for Session 6.

Field Trip 3

Click here (Field trip # 3) information on the objectives of this field trip. Post your field trip report to the Lesson Board when you complete your field trip. This trip must be completed and posted to the Lesson board by the end of session seven.

Journal Writing
Journal writing continues.  You might also find it useful in adding to your journal entries to visit some controversial corporate web sites like those of Monsanto, Exxon, Nestle, etc. and see what "ethical" issues relative to the environment and the use of human resources these corporations face.  Make some notes in your journal if you decide to look into these ethical issues. Remember that the journal must be in Word Format, must be attached to the Lesson board and in the interest of being opened and read, must not include pictures.
