Class Overview

This class will cover the course philosophy, introductory activities, interpretation of the syllabus and assessment guidelines, and will discuss field trips involved with the class.  It will also attempt to provide a brief overview of the concept of "sense of place" in Florida.  Emphasis will also be placed upon the importance of observing and understanding native ecosystems and the "place" of humans within these system..   This initial session will also provide you an introduction to environmental education and journal keeping

Pretest
Please complete the pretest.  

Readings
Begin Reading :  Go ahead & work toward reading this entire book.  It is really pretty short and not that difficult to read through.

Field Trip
Review the introduction to the field trips which are to be found underneath the icon to the left.  Complete the Field Trip One questions dealing with your Home Environment and post them to the Lesson Board. This field trip must be completed and the narrative describing the trip must be posted to the Lesson board by the end of session two.

Journal Writing
Click the icon for directions on Creating and keeping a journal. 

Begin your journal entries this week.  Start making it a habit to read the paper daily watching the Discovery Channel, PBS etc., and surfing the web.  Take what you find and include it in your journal.  Remember that the journal must be in Word Format, must be attached to the Lesson board and in the interest of being opened and read, must not include pictures.
