Agricultural Environment
Visit a place of business that incorporates the use of land management with a business venture. Examples are lumbering, farming, fish farming, orchards, etc). Contact the Extension Service representative in your area for possible agri-business to experience. Use the topics below as guidelines to fulfill the objectives of the field experience. We realize it may not be possible to meet everyone of them at every place. Interview a manager or employee to explore the following issues:
- Explain the relationship and the complexity of production, marketing, distribution and consumption of the product.
- Explain how technology is applied to harvest this product.
- Explain the key relationships between the soil, water, and climate that influence this agribusiness.
- What is the economic relationship of the agribusiness on the state, nation, and world?
- What are the economic and environmental issues evolving around the agribusness in this area?
- Identify the person(s) you interviewed in this field experience and state their perspective concerning the environment.
- Explain how you can become a more thoughtful consumer of the agribusiness product in this area.
- In your opinion, is this activity sustainable? Explain.
