When Dracula strikes:
An On-line Exercise

Dracula moved to Fort Myers from Transylvania to take a position as a faculty member in the philosophy department at FGCU. He was staying in the FGCU dorms, to save money until he could build a house with a crypt. After his long trip, he was tired and hungry. He hadn’t had a good meal for days. He decided to head to the biology lab, he knew that there were always a few A&P students in class late on Friday evenings. Fortunately for him, the class was studying blood when he arrived.  They were performing different tests on their blood. Since Dracula didn’t have a medical background, he didn’t understand the results. Using the following test results, determine who would be the best victim for Dracula’s.
NOTE: Remember that Dracula needs quality blood to survive.

      Jessica’s hematocrit was 40%.

      Hillary’s hemoglobin was 11 g/100 ml.

Tiffany’s erythrocytes were crescent shaped when viewed under the microscope.

Ken’s erythrocyte count was 6.2 million cells per cubic millimeter.

Laura had just returned from a ski trip in the mountains outside of Denver, Colorado. Her erythrocyte count was 6.0 million cells per cubic millimeter.

Helen’s blood was tested for clotting factors. It was determined that she was deficient in factor VIII (antihemolytic factor).
