Downtown Fort Myers: Urban Sustainability


  • Day and Time:  Check with your instructor
  • Destination: The Three Friends Fountain in Centennial Park, First Street
  • Directions:  You can get to Centennial Park from either North or South U.S. 41 by getting off and heading south at  the right hand exit ramp to Downtown Fort Myers.  Take an immediate right onto West First Street and the Park will be on your left, turn left on Heitman Street and under the bridge for parking.
From the South:  from U.S. 41 heading North get off the Downtown Fort Myers exit ramp before you get on the bridge (St. Francis church is on your right).  Cross the intersection bearing right onto Main Street, one block and then left on Heitman to the Park.
From I-75 take exit 141 , State Road 80/Palm Beach Boulevard.  Head west for 4.5 miles into downtown Fort Myers.  Turn right on Bay Street which dead ends at Centennial Park.
  • What to wear: Comfortable clothes and shoes for walking.
  • What to bring: Journal, hat, sunscreen, water, possibly camera, if you wish.
