Ecological Literacy II: Ethics and Economics
Informed and engaged citizens are essential to the creation of a civil and sustainable society. The University values the development of the responsible self grounded in honesty, courage, and compassion, and committed to advancing democratic ideals. Through service learning requirements, the University engages students in community involvement with time for formal reflection on their experiences. Integral to the University’s philosophy is instilling in students an environmental consciousness that balances their economic and social aspirations with the imperative for
ecological sustainability.
Paper 4 requires you to select a book (either fiction or nonfiction) that takes place in Florida. This assignment is designed to allow you the opportunity to make progress, in your own way, toward the course goal on enhancing your "sense of place". In this 3 to 4 page writing, you are to articulate a paper regarding the relationship between people and the environment in the Floridiana book that you read. Report on the main ideas of your book. Please include a complete citation of the book, title, author, city of publication, publisher, and copyright year. Paper 4 is due March 27th. Once you have gathered the information, write your paper. Submit your paper as an MSWord e-mail attachment .
I am giving you some extra time to find a book of your choice and write a summary of it.
Click on the book to find a suggested reading list. (THIS LIST WAS COMPILED TO GIVE YOU SUGGESTIONS. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CHOOSE A BOOK FROM THIS LIST. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT BOOK YOU HAVE SELECTED PRIOR TO READING.)
