My family got into the act too.  My grandmother thought it meant Less Dollars for Christmas.  “Here you go my lovely grandson.  A fifty-dollar bill for you. And for you Teddy. Ha, ha, ha.  I have brand new one-dollar bills.  Five of them too.  Because you are dum…younger then your brother,” she would say each year when she handed my brother and I our gifts.
