The "For Kids Only" Learning Disabilities Website
WELCOME!

I don’t remember much academics that year, but I do remember one day the study skills teacher moved quickly around the room asking each kid about their background.  She came to me and asked, “Where were you born, Teddy?”  I was nervous, so I said, “Mellonville.”  And that was wrong.  That was just a small town I lived in next to where I was born.  Before I could even say “oops” she yelled out, “YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE YOU WERE BORN!  IT WAS HUDSON!  HUDSON, AND DON’T YOU FORGET IT!”  She would announce that everyday for the rest of that year.  She thought LD meant Looking Dumb.
