Entamoeba polecki

Entamoeba polecki. Trophozoite and cyst in fecal smear (trichrome stain, oil immersion). A trophozoite and cyst lie adjacent to each other. The trophozoite has an extruded pseudopod; although the dark-staining nucleus is easily seen, details of the karyosome and peripheral chromatin are obscure. The mature cyst demonstrates the classic features of cysts of this species by having a single nucleus and numerous chromatoid bodies. Cysts of this species typically have a single nucleus and many chromatoid bodies of varying shapes and sizes; in some cysts, chromatoid bodies are absent but a nucleus and a dark-staining inclusion mass are seen.
