Charcot-Leyden Crystals
Charcot-Leyden crystals and yeasts in
fecal smear (trichrome stain, oil immersion). Two crystals, staining red and
purple, are present along with two oval examples of yeast. Yeasts are relatively
uniform in size and shape and are frequently seen in fecal smears. They usually
stain red to green. Because of their small size, they must be distinguished
from the oocysts of Cryptosporidium.
