Charcot-Leyden Crystals
Crystals. Crystals in wet mount preparation
from fecal concentration procedure (unstained, high power). These slender pointed
crystals are highly variable in length, are refractile as are Charcot-Leyden
crystals, and exhibit a greenish tinge in fresh smears. They are sometimes misidentified
as Charcot-Leyden crystals. They are found in the feces of individuals who have
ingested fresh or canned pineapple or pineapple juice as well as other fruits
(e.g., kiwis) and vegetables (e.g., asparagus).
