Course Description:

This course is intended for science majors. The principles of biology are studied from the molecular to the cellular level. Topics include basic biochemistry, the cell doctrine, the physical phenomena of life, elementary bioenergetics and biosynthesis, cellular and organismal reproduction and the gene concept. The curriculum is inquiry based and fully integrated with laboratory and/or field experiences which emphasizes active learning strategies.
