Alternative Assessment

PASSD

What is PASSD?  It is a way to monitor and define the effectiveness of the school system's program for student's with disabilities.  PASSD is based on Florida's Goal 3 performance standards.   It, also, takes into account the latest research in alternative assessment as well as the educational needs of students with disabilities.   (Florida Department of Education, Division of Public Schools and Community Education, 1999)

The PASSD has three levels of performance expectations:

The classroom teacher keeps a record of the child's performance on a 'data collection form'.  The form identifies the performance expectation, skills, setting, situations, concepts and the student's level of performance.  This information helps the IEP committee determine the child's present level and the priority educational needs.

            Performance Levels:

0 - No performance or complete noncompliance.

1 - Low level or emerging performance.

2 - Higher level of emerging performance.

3 - Expected level of performance, proficient.

4 - Proficient beyond expected level of performance.
