What my fourth grade teacher, the following year, thought LD meant was quite different. He seemed to think it meant Loads of Duties, because he would assign me extra work. He thought extra work would help me catch up to the other kids. “You don’t need to be babied. You can handle all the work the rest of the class can and then some,” is all he would say if I could not do the work. And I would feel awful when I could not do the work. |
