How Do I Learn Differently?

We all have a special way we learn or think. Here are three ways: seeing, hearing, and moving, that you may enjoy learning or you may prefer two. There is no best way of learning, many students learn with more than one way.

Are you a "looker"? Are you a "listener"? Are you a "mover"?

 

Lookers rely on seeing things around them to learn.

WEAKNESSES

Memorizing facts
Writing

If you are a looker, here are some activities that can make learning enjoyable:

Watch videos that teach and entertain you
Play spelling games like crossword puzzles, scrabble
Ask to see how things are do instead of being told how
Write down lists for things to remember

Listeners rely on sound for learning.

Group work
Science/social studies

WEAKNESSES

Art
Math
Computers

If you are a listener here are some activities that can make learning enjoyable:

Ask an adult to read to you
Talk to your family about you day
Read stories to family members
Use music hen you are doing things, try different sounds
Try writing to a pen pal or in a journal

Movers- use their bodies , moving and touching

If you are a mover here are some activities that can make learning enjoyable:

Find friends to play games with, create plays or dances.
Act out homework assignments
Try planting a garden, walking the family pet, or building something
Create things, make lots of projects
Join in sports: soccer, football, cheerleading, etc.

Take a learning styles test to see what kind of learner you are!
