The Interview:

A job interview is a meeting between you and the person representing the company you want to work for.  Interviews are not that scary once you know what to expect.  Check out the information below to learn all about job interviews.

Get Prepared

Learn something about the company and the position available to show the employer you are interested in them.  Think of some questions that you may want to ask the interviewer. Be on time! – Arrive about 15 minutes before the interview, and then RELAX.

Click here for some sample questions you may be asked during your interview.  Think about how you would respond.

Dress Your Best!

Wear clothes that are neat, clean, and ironed.

Keep jewelry to a minimum.

Nails should be clean and neatly trimmed or filed.

Hair should be clean and styled neatly.

Remember, you are trying to convince the interviewer that you are right for the job.  This is not the time to wear that frightfully outrageous outfit you just bought!

During the Interview

Greet the interviewer with a SMILE, a handshake, and look him in the eye.

Focus on the interviewer and avoid being distracted.

Speak clearly and answer questions completely.

Listen closely to the questions, and THINK before answering.

Always answer questions in a positive manner.

NEVER speak badly about another person, such as a boss or teacher.

Sit up straight in the chair and keep your feet on the floor – no fidgeting.

After the Interview

When the interview is over, shake the employer’s hand and SMILE!

Ask when the decision will be made.

As soon as you get home, write and mail a brief Thank You letter to the interviewer.

If the employer does not contact you by the date a decision was to be made, contact the interviewer.

If you don’t get this job, don’t worry!  Most people have to apply and interview at several companies before they find the right job.  Keep looking and you will be successful!
