Where will I learn?

   

INCLUSION SETTING:

 

You will still be with your friends and peers. You will receive help from your old teacher and now receive help from a new teacher,too. Sometimes she might work with you and other students in your classroom, maybe in small groups.  Or she might teach lessons together with your old teacher to the class. Most of the time you don’t even know you’re in special education. This is called the least restrictive environment.

  

 

 

   RESOURCE ROOM:

            The resource room or pull out is where students go for extra help, during your regular school day. The resource teacher knows how you learn and can provide different ways for you to learn and be successful. She/he will use many supplies and materials on your level of learning. You may also bring work from your classroom to get help. This type of room is not used as much anymore. Many services are now given in the classroom.

 

SELF-CONTAINED:

 

            The self-contained or special class is made-up of a smaller amount of students. This would be your new classroom. You may see old classmates at lunch, assemblies, and specials. Your class will have a teacher and an assistant. This smaller class has less distractions and you learn in small groups. There will be a lot of exciting games and other learning activities to help you learn.
