Naegleria fowleri

Naegleria fowleri. Two trophozoites in smear from culture (trichrome stain, oil immersion). One ameboid trophozoite has a single nucleus containing a large karyosome and the other is a binucleate organism. The nuclei lack peripheral chromatin. Trophozoites from culture typically may have one to several nuclei.
