Plasmodium falciparum

Plasmodium falciparum. Thin blood film (Giemsa's stain, oil immersion). A mature macrogametocyte as the typical "banana" shape with compact chromatin and dark pigment granules. This organism is within a red blood cell, but the erythrocyte membrane cannot be seen.
