Plasmodium falciparum
Plasmodium falciparum. Thin blood
film (Giemsa's stain, oil immersion). In one of the two infected red blood cells,
a young trophozoite is seen at the margin (often called an appliqué or accolé
form). The other red blood cell is infected with two young trophozoites, one
of which has a double chromatin dot. Note that the infected red cells are normal
in size and lack any stippling.
