Entamoeba histolytica

Entamoeba histolytica, Entamoeba hartmanni, Iodamoeba beutschlii, and Endolimax nana. Trophozoites in fecal smear (trichrome stain, oil immersion). In this unique image, trophozoites of four different species of amebae are present in a linear arrangement. The larger E. histolytica is just to the left of the smaller E. hartmanni and the smaller E. nana lies to the right of the larger I. buetschlii. The nucleus of the E. hartmanni trophozoite is obscure and not in good focus. The typical relative sizes of these four trophozoites are clearly demonstrated.
