Coccidians

Cyclospora cayetanensis. Oocysts in wet mount preparation from fecal flotation concentration procedure (phase contrast, high power). The unsporulated oocysts of this species contain refractile globules. However, when present in small numbers, such oocysts are easily overlooked. They measure 8 to 10 µm, which makes them larger than oocysts of Cryptosporidium parvum (4-6 µm) and yeasts, which are similar in size to Cryptosporidium.
