Class Assignment:

Read the assigned readings first and then answer the following homework questions: 

1.      Briefly describe the International Covenant on Environment and Development.

2.      What is the argument to be made regarding this Covenant contributing to global governance.

3.      Describe what the term "sovereignty" means as it applies to nations.

4.      How do efforts to protect the global commons threaten sovereignty?

5.   " The integration of states, through the proliferation of trade agreements such as the North American Free Trade Agreement ("NAFTA") and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade ("GATT"), has made it more difficult for a state to impose unilateral trade sanctions." Explain.
