*An "E-book Compatible Course" is a course designed to use texts that can be purchased as e-books so that they can be readily accessed and read on an e-book reader , Ipad, personal computer (PC or MAC), or on any other tablet computer that supports the e-book software. This course utilizes these materials for three reasons:
E-books save you a lot of money as compared to paper texts and are environmentally friendly;
E-books are immediately delivered to your device electronically so there is no more excuse for students going days or weeks into classes without having yet received their textbooks. Consequently, never again will it be acceptable for students to ask for an exception to the homework guidelines because books are not yet in hand.
E-books allow you to carry ALL your course textbooks on a small portable device rather than in a backpack and insures that wherever you are access to your textbooks are as proximal as the closest personal computer, tablet computer or e-book reader.
This does not mean you are obligated to purchase an electronic version of your text. If you want a paper version you can purchase your text from any source you choose. However, from here on, no student will be granted dispensation from course assignments and deadlines on the basis of not having a textbook. The rationale for this policy is based upon the instructor's decision to select a text that is readily available for immediate electronic download and use. This means that if you purchase a text in paper format and your text is late arriving for your course, you will not be receiving any allowances for the delay in receipt of your text and will earn a 0% grade for each class session that your text is unavailable.
