Have you dreamed of travel to exotic island paradises?

This is your opportunity! Travel to New Zealand and Fiji with professors Susan Stans and John Fitch while you earn college credit.

Students will travel during Summer A 2001 and spend four weeks (May 19-June 9) researching contemporary issues in these island environments. The theme of the travel will be "Sustainability" whether ecological, political, cultural, or technological.

The Pacific Expedition originated as an opportunity for students to have international experiences and complete courses, especially those associated with the Collegium of Integrated Learning in the College of Arts and Sciences. Students may select two three-hour courses in Issues in Culture and Society, Issues in Politics and Economics, Issues in Science and Technology, and South Pacific Island Environments.

Both professors are teaching Issues in Ecology and the Environment in Spring 2001, which lead into the summer experience. Students and faculty work together to investigate selected contemporary ecology/environmental issues and problems and how they have developed across time. During the summer expedition, you will gain a better understanding of the fragile ecosystem of penguins in New Zealand.
