Summer Interviews and Home Visits

Here at Sawgrass Elementary School we feel that educating children requires a partnership between families and teachers.  Two before the beginning of each school year our teachers will be visiting student's homes to interview families.  this is an informal visit between family members and teacher to get to know each other's goals and expectations before the new school year begins.  This is a time to build a relationship with each other and establish a foundation of honesty, trust and forthrightness.

To prepare for these visits both parties need to assess what are important issues and guidelines for them to establish before the year begins.  Our teachers welcome your ideas and suggestions and value our partnership.  The information our teachers gather ensure that:

    *  Each child's culture is represented in the classroom in a positive manner.

    *  Any special needs the family/child has will be met (home letters, translations of information, learning styles, etc.).

    *  Each child's unique learning style and personality traits are supported in planning everyday activities and interactions.
