Character Education

    The School District of Sawgrass County is working with each school and community to become a unifying force in teaching solid character development.  In current times, parents lead busy lives and students have access to a plethora of television viewing and other technology which may impact their behavior.  The media often times glorifies behaviors, such as violence, drug abuse, gang activities, and alcohol abuse.  The media should be stressing character traits such as, respect, responsibility, and honesty.  
    Some people say that character education is the responsibility of the schools.  
    Some people say that character education is the responsibility of the parents.  
    Some people say that character education is the responsibility of the community and religious organizations.
    It does "take a village to raise a child."
    At Sawgrass Elementary, we strive to serve as positive role models to encourage our youth to become productive members of our society that will in turn be positive role models in the future.
