Description:
Each student is expected to complete the mid-term exam, which accounts
for 25% of his or her grade. The Mid-term exam is a project, which
consists of compiling a source book of the following: a federally
funded program, a state funded program and a not-for-profit agency
that is self-supported by a variety of private funders. Each program
will have the following information:
A detailed description of the program components with reference
to the legislative foundation for the program, services and benefits
Patterns of service use and the theories of help-seeking behavior
Talk about how service relates to the community (does it fill
a need)
Include in the source book what are the plans for the future
for this agency in regards to the growth of the boomer population.
Also identify and compare program discussed to a "best practice"
on national or statewide bases that relates to the program(s) in discussion.
This book should be compiled for the first-time readerŅa person who
knows nothing about the services for older adults in the community.
Academic Integrity/Student
Conduct:
All individuals associated with an academic community have a responsibility
for establishing, maintaining and fostering an understanding and appreciation
for academic standards and values. Students are required to independently
prepare class assignments. Quotations and major ideas and content
from other sources must be cited and credited. Student that input
into an online discussion and other class interaction must be his/her
own product. Plagiarism is a basis for a failing grade. Style:
Correct English grammar and spelling are required in course activities,
assignments and exams. Consult an APA Style Manual Fourth Edition
or current style rules for papers.
