    Today in History
At each of the following sites, you will find listings of events that occured on a specific date in history.  At most, you can enter any date, and it will generate a list of events over several years.  This is very handy for many uses.  One good use of today in history is to put a new fact on the board each day, make the kids write it down, and, at the end of the week, give extra credit for anyone who can remember them.  Or, put them on the board, have the kids write them down and save them, and then, use them periodically as trivia questions for extra points.

PBS History Online---Near the bottom of the page, there is a place to enter a date and pull up a list of events from that date.

The History Net:  Today in History---This site also gives a "Picture of the Day" and  a daily quiz.

The History Channel:  This Day in History--This site allows you to look for a particular date.

This Week in the Civil War

The Library of Congress:  Today in History--This site allows access to more than one day in history.  It also gives pictures which relate to the day's history.
