    a) Review the strong and weak version of the contrastive analysis hypothesis. Do you agree with Oller that there should be a moderate version? Can you think of instances in learning other skills and subject matter in which this moderate principle holds true?
 
b) What is the difference between a mistake and error? How can a foreign language teacher tell the difference between the two in the speech of learners? Why is it important to distinguish between mistakes and errors?
 
c) How might your teaching materials and techniques vary depending upon whether you were teaching a second language or a foreign language?
