VOCATIONAL TRAINING

ENTRANCE ASSESSMENT:  The state of Florida requires that all adult applicants to all vocational centers take the Test of Adult Basic Education ( TABE)  prior to entering any program.  The TABE is a NORM REFERENCED test that is available in English or Spanish. Students who do not meet the passing grade of 9.0(ninth grade) in Math, Reading, and Language may receive additional training during their enrollment in the vocational program.  In order to receive a Certificate of Completion in most programs, graduates must receive a passing score on their TABE.

EXIT ASSESSMENT: Most final assessments of vocational programs are AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENTS requiring students to have performed tasks used within their field to a level that is considered mastery.  These are called PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTS.  Many fields also require state of national certification tests before employment.
