Plasmodium vivax

Plasmodium vivax. Thin blood film (Giemsa's stain, oil immersion). A mature schizont fills this enlarged red blood cell. As is typical for this stage in P. vivax, there are approximately 20 merozoites. Brown pigment grains have coalesced in the center of the schizont.
