Plasmodium vivax

Plasmodium vivax. Trophozoite and schizonts in thick blood smear (Giemsa's stain, oil immersion). A mature trophozoite lies between two mature schizonts in this field. Note the large number of merozoites in the schizonts, which helps differentiate P. vivax from other malaria species.
