Strongyloides stercoralis

Strongyloides stercoralis, iodine wet preparation. This organism normally passes out in the stool as the non-infective rhabditiform larva, which is seen here. Note the short buccal cavity (mouth opening) and about half way back from the anterior end note a large group of cells (genital primordial cells). The short buccal cavity and large group of genital primordial cells are diagnostic for Strongyloides rhabditiform larvae.
