Plasmodium falciparum

Plasmodium falciparum. Ring forms and a gametocyte in thick blood smear (Giemsa's stain, oil immersion). A characteristic elongated gametocyte and several ring forms are seen in this field. in thick films, gametocytes are typically elongated but may be banana- or sausage-shaped and sometimes folded upon themselves.
