Echinococcus granulosis
Hydatid sand (Echinococcus granulosus),
saline wet preparation. Hydatid sand refers to the individual scolices and daughter
cysts which bud off from the germinal epithelial layer and drop into the center
of the fluid-filled cyst. When fluid is removed from a hydatid cyst and examined
after centrifugation, the material seen in this slide is often visible. Several
scolices are visible in this slide.
