Brugia malayi. Microfilaria in thin blood film (Giemsa's stain, low power). In Giemsa-stained thick or thin blood films, the sheath of the microfilaria takes a pink stain and the column of nuclei stains an intense blue so that individual nuclei may be difficult to see. As illustrated here, the tail nuclei, in this case the subterminal nucleus, may be difficult to see.
