Teleconference Discussion and Questions | Active participation and discussion of the telecourse videos will help you gain a wider perspective of microbiology. You can add your comments to the discussion at any time after the video airs. Their will be 12 discussion topics to coincide with each video. Full credit will be given for comments and discussion posted within one week of airing of the video. Comments posted after the first week can with a loss of 2 points if posted the second week, 5 points if posted by the third week. No points will be given for discussion of the specific video if posted after 3 weeks of airing. You are invited to participate in the final discussion of the teleconference series to evaluate the series and the course. Extra credit will be awarded and posted on the webboard site. |
Online Quizzes | Online quizzes have been developed for this text. To participate go to the Text Links Page and go to the Online Course Companion URL. Answer the following chapter quizzes oulined in the telecourse guide: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17 20 and 27. You can answer and 5 of the remaining 13 chapter quizzes. Foward your results directly as a text document to me via email provided at the web site. |
Laboratory Exercises | Hands On exercises are desiged to compliment the telecourse content and text and to give you an appreciation of the microbial world. Laboratories participation (5 pts), quizzes (4pts) and reports (1pt) will serve as evaluation tools. |
Special Projects | Students who wish to earn extra credit may do so by engaging in an semester project or developing and presenting a paper. Students who choose to work on a special topic should develop a topic and discuss it with the instructor. The points awarded for the project will be individualized up to 25 total points. All projects/paper topics need to be approved by April 1. |
