GROUP PROJECT - MINI SELF STUDY - SITE VISIT SCHEDULE

You will be responsible for a group project in this course.  Your instructor will assign you to a team made up of members representing various health professions.  Your general assignment will be to develop a mini self study and a schedule for a coordinated site visit involving three different health professions.

In order to accomplish this task you will need to do the following:

  1. Meet with your team members on a regular basis through e-mail.
  2. Create a fictional university, college, or health care institution that has at least three health professions educational programs.  The programs do not have to be at the baccalaureate level.
  3. Decide on the three health professional programs that are to be reviewed.
  4. Obtain the necessary standards, essentials, site visit guidelines, etc. as required to accomplish your task.
  5. Create an outline of a self-study document that incorporates the requirements for the accrediting agencies involved.  The document should reflect an interdisciplinary approach to the process rather than following the precision of each of the agencies involved.  In the process creativity and avoidance of replication is more important than following a rigid prescribed outline.
  6. Using your discretion, wisdom, and creativity develop a mini self-study which provides a sampling of the contents without going into the length or depth which might be part of a regular self-study.  For appendices which might be excessively long you can indicate that "the documents are on file in the document review room".  The issue is for you to be selective, to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the contents of a self-study and present evidence of a relevant sample of the final product.
  7. Develop a schedule for a team of site visitors who will come to the facility and spend three days at the facility and/or sites associated with the facility, e.g. clinical, demonstration, experimental.
  8. Put the components into a formal document and convey it via a letter of transmittal to the president of your institution.

NOTE:  There is no minimum but a maximum of 25 pages for this assignment.  Nevertheless, the emphasis is on mini self study so choose your information wisely and avoid volume.  It is a semester group study project and should reflect the value attached to it in the course evaluation section.

The group project is due one week after the last class.

Your instructor will grade you and the group effort; you will be asked to grade each individual member of your group.

Submit your assignment by e-mail to cford@fgcu.edu. First, do the assignment as a Word document and then attach the document to an e-mail.  If you have questions on how to send an attachment, refer to the Technology Module linked to the first week of the course. Once you are in the technology module, go to the section on e-mail. Make sure you keep a copy of all assignments!
