"The School and Social Progress," he refers to a ""New Education"
(required) in the light of larger changes in society." Of these
changes, Dewey is particularly concerned for the future of the "new
education" as it regards "the application of science resulting in the great inventions that have
utilized the forces of nature on a vast and inexpensive scale." What are
Dewey's concerns regarding such applications of science and how they will
impact upon education? Can you see any environmental concerns that Dewey
