Experimental Analysis
- A portion of Skinner's rigorous approach,
was to work from a basis of experimental analysis.
In this type of study, the researcher must manipulate
observable events in a controlled environment.
Skinner accomplished this by developing the Skinner box.
This was a soundproof, darkened box with mechanisms
to provide reinforcers. Skinner's early work was with
rats, which still remain the most common choice for entry
level researchers. However, later, Skinner studied pigeons.
