Something to think about . . . . conceptual knowledge
The figure above deconstructs conceptual
knowledge. This figure is designed to represent the
various subcomponents of this type of knowledge.
Note that content knowledge and discourse knowledge, while both a part of conceptual knowledge, do not overlap one with another. However, the subcomponent of word knowledge does connect the two. Thus, we can anticipate that in most cases we can identify conceptual knowledge at one of several levels.
In addition to being conceptual knowledge, we can anticipate that any specific piece of information may also be classified as content, and maybe domain knowledge. But aside from the special category of word knowledge, no specific information overlaps between conceptual knowledge and discourse knowledge.
