: : Now it's your time to vent. As a health care consumer yourself, were you ever treated unprofessionally by another health care provider (who probably didn't know you were a health care provider)? And what was your worse patient like?
: I have never been a patient and treated unprofessionally, however I have
: had physicians be very condesending and unprofessional in their behavior
: because they felt I was questioning their abilities
: when they were asked questions about their orders or
: we gave their patients other options than the physician had.
: My worst patient to deal with was the patients wife. The patient
: was a middle aged man who had open heart surgery and
: had multiple complications after surgery. She had some
: knowledge and that made her an expert. She also felt that
: her husband was the only patient we had to care for and wanted us
: to jump when she said jump. She was psycho. She video taped the staff.
: It was the most stressful case I have had to deal with.
Yes, some of the familes do seem to go overboard.
We had a code the other nite on a 39 year old cardiac arrest. We only had 3 of us on staff and the doc. with the er packed. This women flew in the room during the code, pulled open the curtain and scream at us that her kid needed stitches in his chin NOW and she was leaving!!!
