Pneumocystis carinii

Pneumocystis carinii. Cysts in human lung tissue (Gomori's methenamine silver stain, oil immersion). The cysts in this field stain black and have the typical cup- shaped appearance. As is characteristic for this stain, neither intracystic bodies nor trophozoites take up the stain.
