Acanthamoeba spp.

Acanthamoeba species. Trophozoites and cyst in human brain tissue (hematoxylin and eosin stain, oil immersion). Both the outer and inner walls of the cyst are visible. The presence of cysts in tissue differentiates Acanthamoeba from Naegleria, since the latter appears only in the trophozoite stage in humans.
