The Pacific Expedition is an interdisciplinary studies course offered within the Collegium of Integrated Learning to fulfill a portion of the requirements for the B.A. in Liberal Studies. Through the Collegium of Integrated Learning, students and faculty work together to investigate selected contemporary issues and problems.

This course examines ecological and environmental issues and problems that are specific to the Pacific Islands to gain a better understanding of how they have developed across time and how they might be addressed in the future. By studying the culture, history, anthropology, and literature of Pacific Islands, we are able to compare them to local and global ecological and environmental issues.

Individually and in teams, students develop "intellectual histories" of an issue or problem. These "histories" require building an integrated context by examining issues through the perspectives and methods of knowing in the social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities.
