Welcome to our great adventure in anthropology, education, and technology. You have chosen to participate in the latest commitment for the future of higher education. By taking an on-line course you will be testing the quality and availability of distance learning. In a way, we are an experimental group. The academic world is curious to know if you learn as well as you would had you come to class. This is an great responsibility for you to learn at a distance. You can see how this has great importance for meeting the needs of students who live far away and/or work full time. You may be using a home computer, a computer at one of the satellite campuses or even using the campus computers on your own time schedule. This course will be asynchronous. That means you will be able to access the material when it is convenient for you, late at night, early in the morning. Just remember that on Monday the new class material will be presented. You have until the POSTED DEADLINE to complete your assignments. You will have three assignments most weeks; the quiz, the essay and the WebBoard. Today we will focus on learning the technology. But first, let's take a look at the syllabus. The syllabus will be available on the course website, but you have been given a paper copy to look over today. Now on to learning the technology
