Rubric for Scoring Abbreviated Version of a Research Proposal
 
 
 
      Parts to be included -- 
        Introduction (each item worth 1 = total of 5 points) 
         
          1.  Statement of the Problem 

          2.  Importance of the Problem 

          3.  Research Question(s) or Research Hypothesis (ses) 

          4.  Assumptions / Limitations  

          5.  Definitions (where needed)

          

        Review of the Literature (each item worth 3 = total of 9 points) 
         

          1.  Should include at least 5 empirical, research articles 

          2.  A narrative which synthesizes all the articles -- do not list summaries of each article one after the other 

          3.  An evaluation of the research reviewed -- why does it need the addition of your research 

          

        Procedures (each item worth 2 = total of 6 points) 
         

          1.  Description of the sample and sampling method 

          2.  Description of the instrument 
           

            a.  if published, give reported reliability and validity 

            b.  if unpublished, include copy as an appendix

          3.  Method of collecting the data (with enough detail that someone else could replicate your study)
